Harkins announces over $30,000 in state grants to two fire companies, EMS provider

HARRISBURG, Feb.13 – State Rep. Patrick Harkins, D-Erie, announced that two fire companies and one ambulance service in the 1st Legislative District are receiving $31,862 in state grants to aid their initiatives.

"The most important takeaway from the awarded funds is that the few and proud who go out of their way to protect our community are adequately funded to do so," Harkins said.

The City of Erie Fire Department was awarded $15,000. The Lawrence Park Volunteer Fire Department secured $11,727; its ambulance service was awarded $5,135.

Petitions for Senator Casey in Erie County will be collected on Sunday, February 25th, at Democratic Party HQ, 1305 State Street, Erie, from 1 pm to 3 pm. A notary will be present for circulators turning in petitions. Any candidates wanting to have their petitions notarized are welcome.


Rep. Fabrizio to conclude House service in 2018

ERIE, Jan. 29 – The following statement is from Rep. Florindo "Flo" Fabrizio of Erie:

"After considerable deliberation and consultation, with family, friends, and others, I have decided not to seek re-election to a ninth term as State Representative from the Second Legislative District.

All Party committee seats are up for election this year, petition dates

All Party committee seats are up for election this year. The first day to pick up petitions to run for a local committee seat is February 9 and circulation may begin on February 13. Petitions for committee seats are to be picked up at Erie County Board of Elections at the Erie County Courthouse, 140 W 6th St, Erie PA.

All current committee people and those interested in joining the Democratic Party should pick up petitions, get the necessary signatures parenthesis 10) in their respective district and get it notarized and turned into the board of elections.


Bizzarro, Fabrizio and Harkins announce $350,000 in state funding to Erie County's revitalization projects

HARRISBURG, Jan. 3 – State Reps. Ryan Bizzarro, Flo Fabrizio and Pat Harkins, all D-Erie, today announced Erie County is the recipient of $350,000 in Keystone Communities program funding. 

"This is great news for our community and for all those involved in the ongoing effort to support and advance the infrastructure of Erie County," Bizzarro said. "I'm confident the awarded funds will help us as we continue our beautification projects across the Erie region."


Bizzarro, Fabrizio and Harkins announce $6 million in state grants; Erie County General Authority, City of Erie to receive funding

HARRISBURG, Dec. 22 – State Reps. Ryan Bizzarro, Flo Fabrizio and Pat Harkins, all D-Erie, today announced two grants totaling $6 million to the Erie County General Authority and the City of Erie from the state Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program.

"The grants approved today will have a remarkable influence on the development and prosperity of the Erie region," Bizzarro said. "We look forward to utilizing these funds as we continue our mission to make our community a place everyone wants to call home."


Harkins and Fabrizio announce traffic grant

ERIE, May 11 – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation today announced a number of grants to maintain and upgrade traffic signals along state and local highways.

State Reps. Patrick Harkins and Flo Fabrizio, both D-Erie, report that the traffic signal at the intersection of East Lake Road and Bacon Avenue will be upgraded and pedestrian walk signals will be installed, thanks to a grant of more than $244,000. As part of the grant program, 20 percent of the project cost, or just over $61,000 will be the responsibility of the local community.
