Erie County Democratic Party caucuses give people a home within the party based on shared identities, experiences, or interests. The priorities and activities of each caucus are ultimately shaped by its members. Caucuses may organize events, explore issues, advocate for priorities, or take on other projects its members care about.

You do not need to be an elected committee person to participate. If a caucus speaks to you, you are welcome to get involved.

What is a caucus?

    Women's Caucus

The Women’s Caucus is the official voice of women within the Erie County Democratic Party. The caucus elevates issues affecting women, advises the party on policies and priorities, and supports women who run for office, but its work is not limited to traditionally “women’s work.” Members organize around the candidates, causes, and community priorities they choose, because a woman’s place is wherever she damn wants it to be.

The Erie County Young Democrats bring together Democrats under 40 (and young-at-heart Democrats!) from across Erie County. ECYD offers young people a place to connect, get involved in campaigns and their communities, and ensure younger perspectives and priorities are represented within the Democratic Party.

  • Progressive Caucus

The Erie County Democratic Party’s Progressive Caucus is a place for Democrats who want to dig deeper into the issues affecting our communities. Members explore legislative priorities, exchange ideas, elevate inclusive and equitable approaches, and identify opportunities for advocacy, organizing, and systemic change.

We are currently seeking immigrants, refugees, first-generation Americans, and allies interested in helping build this caucus.
